The LIVAC (Linguistic Variations in Chinese Speech Communities) synchronous corpus was set up in 1995. Up to 2008, LIVAC has processed over 350 million Chinese characters (with a total of 1,500,000 word types) from 6 Chinese speech communities: Hong Kong, Taiwan, Beijing, Shanghai, Macau and Singapore.
